Athletes require bravery and determination to win whenever they compete. A strong will to win is extremely important especially when faced with rough tackles. Getting injured is part and parcel of every sport especially with a physical sport like soccer. It is the players’ level of resilience that will get them back on their feet, no matter how great the pain may be. Many heroes insist on playing on as long as the pain allows them to continue. Some wait until half time before getting their injury looked at. However, the team’s athletic trainers also have a big responsibility to ensure the safety and well being of all their players. Many unsung heroes insist playing on even if there was a minor clash with another player. Play goes on if the referee is not aware of any potential head injury. This is where it gets dangerous as head injuries are not to be taken lightly. In this video, Tigres’ pretty centre forward Elizondo had to signal for time out eventually as she felt dizzy. The brave forward certainly fits the idiom “beauty is only skin deep”. Kudos to her!
