As Jimmy Garoppolo trade rumors continue to swirl, The San Francisco Chronicle’s Mike Silver says he believes the New York Giants could be a landing spot for Jimmy G, while 49ers owner Jed York said he would be comfortable with Jimmy Garoppolo being on the 2022 roster. Trey Lance is going to be QB1 for Kyle Shanahan, with Nate Sudfeld and Brock Purdy behind him. Will John Lynch pull the trigger on a Jimmy G trade, or will the Niners hang onto him at the start of the season?

Mike Silver on Jimmy Garoppolo to the New York Giants:
“I think the Giants want him… I think the Giants perspective is, yea, we think he’s better than Daniel Jones. We would rather have him now, but…even if you reduce the $24 million, which I think you would have to, it would be tough for us cap-wise… Then I think the other thing with some of these other teams, you think, yea, we can maybe prop it up with Jimmy and go 7-10 or 8-9 this year and think we’re better than we really are or we can take our lumps now and draft the next guy a year from now.”
