How Does A Software Update Prevent Cam Shaft Damage? VW has come out with a recall on many 2015-2016 1.8t and 2.0t Engines. The issue is the lob for the HPFP and brake booster is breaking. The repair for this issue is a SOFTWARE UPDATE. Here are my thoughts on how that may be real life. But I have no insider knowledge of what happens. This is just my guess
