Yeah see, I knew this was going to happen...

Never got the toilet paper... big money problems.

Cashier wouldn't take my 5k bill ($82.80).

This is why most of my currency is U.S... As long as I'm buying rubles, they've got to give me the denominations I ask for... bank account or no bank account.

And as I go along exchanging my currency, I'll slowly break the larger bills I already have.

Oh, I didn't have to break into my old-woman-emergency-paper supply.

By the time I got back to the hostel, there was paper in the bathrooms.

Why this episode?

I can't recall if it was a joke or just a general sentiment I stumbled across, but apparently, the Cuban attribute of respecting elders seems to strike other latin groups as absurd or humorous.

Maybe it's just respecting FEMALE elders that strikes them as amusing. - If I recall correctly, I believe they DID specify "Abuelita".

So...if displaying respect for your own society is a particularly Cuban attribute...
