Many people believe Augustine’s Writings to be the most important, following the Bible. He was born in North Africa in the year 354. As a child, Augustine’s mother was a firm Christian believer, while his father was a pagan. He had very little interest in religion, preferring to be more of a trouble-making kid than a follower of Christ. Before becoming the great mind of Christianity that he grew to be, he was a teacher of rhetoric and Manichean philosophy. After feeling convicted by the writings of Paul, he became a monk and then a bishop. Until he died in 430, he wrote some of the most influential works in Christian history.
