RC Airplanes with LEDs Flying Thru Fireworks at #RCFest 2022 #SHORTS

In this #YouTube #Shorts episode, we share some amazing footage of RC Airplanes with LEDs flying through the nighttime Fireworks Show to end #RCFest 2022.

Since its beginning, I have been the Race Director of RC Fest, hosted at Eli Field in Monticello, IL, and put on by Horizon Hobby. Held June 10-11 2022, this two-day event featured an RC airshow, RC product demonstrations, 1/5 and 1/8 scale races, giveaways, and more! Visitors were also able to get hands-on with all kinds of RC vehicles and aircraft. Refreshment vendors, food trucks, and an on-site sales tent made this yet another amazing RC Fest.

Day or night there was plenty of aircraft in the skies over Eli Field. From the ever-exciting Ring of Fire to the exhilaration of 200 MPH jets, there was no shortage of excitement. If you wanted to take to the skies yourself you could even do so with the try-and-fly area.

If cars and trucks are more your speed, like with me, there were tons of cars and trucks to check out too. 1/8 scale electric and nitro fuel powered buggies and truggies competed on the challenging M3 Raceway, along with the ginormous 1/5 scale Losi 5IVE-T and 5IVE-B cars and trucks. Not only could guests watch the action, but they could also even get their hands on the transmitter and join in the fun by driving scale RC rock crawlers, off-road vehicles, and even boats!

When the champions of the races had been crowned and the sun had set, the nighttime fireworks show kicked off. This was not any ordinary fireworks show as a number of the RC Pilots also took to the skies with LED-equipped airplanes. These pilots would navigate through the plooms and explosions, maneuvering around the explosions and adding to the excitement of the event. The nighttime show lasted about 20 minutes, and during this time there were many close calls, near mid-air collisions, and a few pucker moments. In the end, it wound up adding to the excitement, spectacle, and celebration of everything that makes this event and the RC Hobby so much fun and amazing.
