Cane Corso Prong Collar Training 101 - Humane or Not?

I always get asked why I use a prong collar on my Cane Corso if he is trained, or how I go about training my Cane Corso with a prong collar. Or I get told that it is a torture device and inhumane to my Cane Corso. So I wanted to clarify all of the above.
