🎥“China’s Ecological Restoration: Guangyang Island EPC Project”
In this live stream episode, we’re going to visit Guangyang Island, the biggest island in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, with numerous natural resources and stunning views. Located in Chongqing, this island is now a demonstration spot to showcase how much effort China has put in as a pledge to the ecological future of the world.
In 2021, Guangyang Island was presented in COP15. In April this year, Guangyang Island, as the only invited representative of ecological protection and restoration cases, shared ecological restoration practices at the United Nations "Stockholm+50" China Stakeholders Dialogue.
But it didn’t look like this before 5 years ago. It was developed as a real estate area with a volume of 3 million square meters, therefore, the ecological environment and biodiversity have been severely damaged at that time.
In 2017, the government implemented the national strategy of the Yangtze River economic belt, stopped the commercial development, and started the ecological restoration work.
Right now, the vegetation coverage rate of the whole island reached over 90%, and 594 species of plants and 452 species of animals have been recorded here.
This project stood out as a successful ecological restoration demonstration in China and worldwide.
We’ll be wandering through this island, talking about the ecological restoration experiences and the sustainable development of the island, and what we could do as individuals to shape our world greener.
