Is the Word Evolutionist a Derogatory Term

Evolutionists will frequently claim the use of the term "Evolutionist" is used to as a derogatory term to make Evolution look like a belief system. They fear only claim that it does not really exist despite the word showing up in dictionaries, and despite the fact, that is just a descriptive term.
