New 2D Mario Game Coming Soon!?

A new rumor making the rounds online suggests that Nintendo may be making a new 2D Super Mario game with a surprise character return. Nintendo leaker Zippo, who has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, has claimed that they have information on an unannounced 2D Super Mario game. According to Zippo, this new 2D Super Mario project will not have the "New Super Mario" tagline, abandoning the style of that sub-series to embrace a surprising new art style. The game will reportedly feature online multiplayer and the return of obscure character Foreman Spike, who appeared as Mario's rival in Wrecking Crew.
