Preventing Teen Suicide: Kids in Crisis with Guests Dr. James Dobson and Dr. Tim Clinton

For various reasons, adolescence can be emotionally difficult for teenagers. Their lack of self-worth can sometimes lead to the tragedy of suicide. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and Dr. Tim Clinton, President of the American Association of Christian Counselors, alert parents to the warning signs in their teens’ behavior and recommend how best to respond. The key is to connect; talk with your son or daughter, communicate your unconditional love and get the help that he or she needs.

About Today's Guests: Dr. James Dobson and Dr. Tim Clinton
Dr. James Dobson is the founder and president of the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute, a nonprofit organization that produces his radio broadcast, Family Talk, which is heard on more than 1,400 outlets. He holds a Ph.D. in child development and research design from the University of Southern California School of Medicine and is the author and co-author of 70 books. Dr. Dobson served as an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine for 14 years, and served on the attending staff of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles for 17 years. He has advised five U.S. presidents and served on eight national commissions. In 2008 he was inducted into The National Radio Hall of Fame. Dr. Dobson has been married to Shirley for 62 years, and they have two grown children, Danae and Ryan, and two grandchildren.

Dr. Tim Clinton is president of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and co-host of Family Talk, the radio ministry of the James Dobson Family Institute. He is recognized as a world leader in mental health and relationship issues, and spends much of his time working with Christian leaders and professional athletes. He is the author of over 30 books including "The Struggle is Real: How to Care for Mental Health Needs in the Church." Dr. Clinton has served at Liberty University for over 30 years in numerous leadership and academic positions including professor of counseling at the James C. Dobson Center for Child Development, Marriage, and Family Studies. He is also the resident authority on mental health and relationships for the James Dobson Family Institute. Dr. Clinton is married to Julie, and they have two children and two grandchildren.
