What Really Is Shelter | TJack Survival

In survival scenarios, the most prevalent causes of mortality are exposure and a lack of adequate protection from the elements. Having access to fire, water, shelter, food, communications, medical treatment, and the ability to regularly resupply all of these essentials gives you the best chance of surviving an emergency or survival situation.

Tyler from TJack discusses how to prepare your shelter for a long-term camping setup in this video. Making a shelter begins with significant consideration and forethought on the part of the builder and survivalist. The problem is that people are only interested in a shelter constructed of wood that you might have to build from scratch.

Since poor performance can be avoided with proper planning, Tyler highlights some of his clothing while hunting. It is just as crucial to stay warm as it is to stay well-hydrated when it is chilly.

Tyler talks about some of the gear he wears while hunting since it serves as a preemptive strike against the need for protection. Furthermore, it prevents the need for shelter from being an issue at lower temperatures. Even if you are only trekking up in a t-shirt and shorts in the mountains, you will have to create a shelter or a fire because you are not dressed appropriately.

Wool is something that he especially mentions concerning shelter because wool keeps the center of your body warm. Wool also contains lanolin, which is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, and as a result, it will effectively eliminate the odor.

If you are going to stay in the bush for an extended period and will be wearing the same clothes, make them all out of wool. If a spark strikes wool, it will eventually catch fire and burn. It just does not achieve the same results as cotton, plastic, or any other material.
