The Russian Ministry of Defence said on Saturday that Units of the Russian Airborne Troops & Ukrainian soldiers were working together to ensure the security of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

According to the ministry, an agreement was reached between the soldiers to jointly ensure security of the plant's power units and the nuclear fuel storage facility.

A Russian paratrooper on the ground said that the situation at the Chernobyl nuclear plant "is under control," and that protection of the plant facilities "is carried out jointly with the National Guard of Ukraine."
