Gained its name because of its large mouth and smooth body - like a whale, although it is only 40 cm long.

Mostly females are hunted. Mature males simply do not have a mouth.

At the early stage of development, the male stores fat in its massive liver, which feeds it for the rest of its life, and its mouth and alimentary canal become permanently overgrown.
