Anne Heche Did Not Identify As A Lesbian

Anne Heche ‘did not identify as a lesbian’ while dating Ellen DeGeneres, she wrote in upcoming memoir

A posthumous memoir by actor Anne Heche claims the “Donnie Brasco” star never considered herself gay while dating comedian Ellen DeGeneres during the turn of the century.

“I did not, personally, identify as a lesbian,” Heche wrote in “Call Me Anne,” which is slated to be published by Start Publishing in January.

Heche and DeGeneres dated from 1997 to 2000, at a time when same-sex celebrity couples were less inclined to go public. Heche claims she’d never before been in a relationship with another woman.

“I simply fell in love!” she wrote in her book, according to the Associated Press. “It was, to be clear, as odd to me as anyone else.”
