How to enable HDR in Netflix and Youtube in Gaming Monitors

Check Requirements first:

Display monitor should have at least 1080p or more, max brightness 300 nits or more, must support HDR10, Display Port version 1.4, HDMI 2.0 or higher. Also check HDR certifications like AMD Freesync Premium Pro, Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-Sync Ultimate or VESA Display HDR

To enable HDR video playback, first set the monitor mode on HDR, please see the manual of your monitor for details.

Next, Go to windows system settings
Click Display
Turn ON "Use HDR"
Click Use HDR to open more settings

The first time you open this, "Play streaming HDR on video" will display "not suuported"
Click the blue colored "More about HDR" to open the microsoft link

Click "Display requirements for HDR video in Windows" to open a new tab

For Netflix, you need HEVC codecs, just click the link to open a new tab

HEVC Video extensions costs around 0.99 in USD or use this link for free

For Youtube, you need VP9 codec. Again just click the link to open Microsoft Store

AV1 is an open souce, royalty-free video coding format and the successor of VP9. Netflix and Youtube will use this more in the future due to its high quality and high compression video format.

Click open microsoft store
Click install, do the same for VP9

To check if it's working, open Netflix app or Netflix in Microsoft Edge or Safari in Mac OS. Google chrome is not yet supported

For youtube, Search for hdr 4k videos
During playback, click the gear to see more options
