How to Build a SIMPLE Homestead Hay Feeder

How to build a barn hay feeder from free and reclaimed materials. We built this for our dairy goat herd but it would be great for meat goats, sheep, or other livestock as well.

We needed more places to put hay in our barn because with winter coming our goat herd will be going through much more of our reserves. Like we almost always do we built this from scrap wood we had left over from other projects. The welded wire fence was also left over but unfortunately we are almost out.

I put this hay feeder together in a few hours and I’m so incredibly happy with the results. More importantly, though, the goats approve and Megan likes it so much I get to build another one – hooray!
