Don't Rationalize a False Faith - Countering Christian Minimalists

Sola Scriptura Messages
Why did most Christians compromise or collaborate with the Nazi's in the 1930's? The history of that time is very instructive for our time. It also recalls a time in the history of God's people when there were those faithful few who stood up to the overwhelming might of the Seleucid empire . And were it not for their faith in the truth of scripture and their courage to fight the evil of the time then there would have been no Jewish nation when Jesus, the Messiah was born.

A Great Miracle Happened There

Sola Scriptura Messages
During the winter season one might think that the “great miracle that happened there” was the birth of the Son of God in Bethlehem…but is that the reality? Luke recorded in his account of Jesus life, the story of this birth to the virgin Mary. This is truly an amazing story. But many would be surprised to know that the evidence does not support a date of December 25th, nor any time in the winter. So what is that miracle that happened there, in the land of Israel, in the winter, on December 25th. It may surprise some.

What Do We Presume? Sins of Pride 2.0T

Sola Scriptura Messages
The Psalmist wrote extolling the virtues of God's ways, while warning about the danger of presumptuous sins. The proud, the willful, and the presumptuous were those who 'stepped out of bounds.' They did not value God's virtues, his laws, statutes and testimonies. On the other hand, God's people both Jew and Gentile were to be known for their humility and service to God. God's Nature – God of Truth

Sola Scriptura Messages
We worship God because he is the God of truth. Truth is firm, steadfast, stable. Truth is the reality; from the marvellous miniature design of our DNA to the vast expanses of the universe our God created and controls everything that is real. So do you have the hope and confidence that comes from a love of the truth and the God whose nature is true?

Syncretism — Tolerating Lies?

Sola Scriptura Messages
Sometimes the truth is 'hard to swallow' so people settle for a convenient syncretism — a comforting blend of truth and lies. Jesus had spoken to his disciples and followers about 'drinking his blood and eating his body.' But what he said was difficult to understand, even offensive, and as a result many stopped following Jesus. They did not understand that the Passover symbols of bread and wine were given to represent Jesus' death, his body and blood. It was only through this sacrifice that he could give the gift of eternal life to all who trusted in him.
Jesus also spoke a hard truth to the Samaritans, who thought they were following God's will in their religious worship. But the reality was that they had a long history of syncretism, blending the truth of God with their traditions.

Living in the Presence of God

Sola Scriptura Messages
From the beginning the Lord's intent was that his people would live in the presence of God, and become holy as God is holy. He desired a close intimate family relationship with those he would call to dwell with him. He walked and talked with Abraham, he spoke to his people Israel from the mountain top, and he conferred directly with Moses and the elders of the nation. Are we living in God's presence, fully aware of his desires for us?

Worship in Truth

Sola Scriptura Messages
When we worship God does it matter how and when we do it? Can we create our own traditions and worship God according to the dictates of our heart? Or is there more to worshipping in spirit and in truth than may be easily apparent in our world of competing worship traditions. How do we worship in truth? Let the scriptures teach you what God has in mind.
