Store Clerk Cooperates With Armed Robber And Get Shot & Killed Anyway - Gun Control Worked?
Armed Robbery From Tupelo MS robs store and kills clerk for No Reason. Killer should not have had gun, Store Clerk was prevented from lawfully carrying. Gun Control working for criminals and Gov, NOT for pesky citizens.
TUPELO • A Tupelo man is facing a charge of capital murder after allegedly shooting and killing an employee of a convenience store during a Sunday morning robbery.
Tupelo police initially arrested a 26-year-old man, later identified as Chris Copeland of Moore Avenue, Tupelo, on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 11, on charges that included robbery and aggravated assault. He is accused of robbing the Chevron Food Mart at the corner of Cliff Gookin Boulevard and South Thomas on Sunday morning, during which he allegedly shot a store employee.
Police were called to the gas station at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of an injured person. Responding officers located a male victim, later identified as a store clerk, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The victim was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center emergency room in grave condition.
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green said Parmvir Singh, 33, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at 3:42 p.m.
Investigators quickly identified Copeland as a suspect.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Tupelo police executed a search warrant at Copeland’s last known address in Tupelo. A short time later, Copeland approached officers and was detained without incident.
Copeland was booked into the Lee County Jail Sunday afternoon at 2:47, charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery and violation of his Mississippi Department of Corrections probation.
Law enforcement officials say those charges are expected to be upgraded to capital murder when Copeland is formally charged on Tuesday. Under state law, capital murder suspects are usually held without bond. In Mississippi, a capital murder conviction has only two possible sentences – life without parole or death.
Tupelo police spokesman Major Chuck McDougald said the investigation is still in the early stages and there is a possibility of additional charges and additional arrests.
