About the tactics of using Iranian UAVs in Ukraine

A couple of days ago, Ukrainian publics began to disseminate information about the downed Russian UAV "Mohajer-6" of Iranian production and which fell into the Black Sea.

Despite the loud cries of the Ukrainian Telegram channels, the loss of the Mohajer is largely due to pilot error due to a lack of combat experience in using them.

🔻 Why so?

Judging by the fact that Mohajer-6 is practically untouched in the footage, the air defense did not hit him. And he “sat down” either due to an operator error, or due to approaching the EW activity zone. Why this happened is unclear.

In this case, the UAV should act as a gunner for the Geraniums due to the lack of guidance cameras in the latter. According to Syrian experience, the picture on the Mohajers is of high quality, and the camera is able to provide accurate target designation even at a great distance.

As an example, we can consider the tactics of using the Bayraktar UAV by the Ukrainians. After more than a dozen downed UAVs, the Ukrainians stopped using them to deliver strikes on the scale that was at the beginning of the NMD.

Now Turkish UAVs are used purely for reconnaissance, artillery guidance and target designation. Moreover, they fly at a distance of up to 150 km from a given area (the camera allows). And when you try to get closer, they are instantly shot down.

🔻 It is in the lack of experience in the use of strike and reconnaissance drones that the main problem lies. In the structural subdivisions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation there is no clear understanding of the purpose of certain types of UAVs.

Iranian products are made from inexpensive materials and it is extremely illogical to use them only for strikes against stationary targets.

Considering that Ukrainian HIMARS or M777 howitzers are still attacking military and civilian infrastructure facilities along the entire front line, the use of UAVs that are relatively elusive for air defense will be most welcome.
