How much should I work to be successful?

Good question.

It is important to work a lot of hours. The idea of a 4 hour work week is not something you want and neither is a 40 hours work week. The reason has nothing to do with money. Let’s say you could make enough money working 4 hours per week or retire and just live on passive income.

All of these things are poison that if you fall into a lazy lifestyle will punish you later. You need to also develop a sense of responsibility that you have a responsibility to work more hours to do more good to help people. To make the world better. If you can solve all the problems for yourself and your family you should look to your extended family and society.

I would suggest if you are a younger man and in good health you should work no less than 80 hours per week. And you absolutely should be working 7 days per week. This is not a lot of work if you are not on a construction site doing physical labor. Sitting around watching TV is easy as is sitting around typing on a computer.

A good idea also is to work on weekends. Don’t worry about time missed on things like attending kids’ soccer games or football games.

Your kids would much rather have family wealth they can inherit than have you stand around and cheer while they make a goal at every game. It also sets a bad example that your work is so unimportant that you put kids soccer games ahead of work. This is not what a man should do.

Your mission is to work until you take your last breath. You will have a lot more fun doing that then sitting around watching TV or soccer games. Find something that you can put your heart into that you have passion for and do it.

It also is important when working to be willing to also do things you don’t like doing. Sure you want to have a general idea of the type of work you want to do and go in that direction. But you don’t want to turn into someone that can’t do what they need to do because the work is boring or not fun.
