If your looking to make better monster and improve your combat this video is for you. I really wanted to show a few things I like to do to keep my players interested in combat and give them a surprise. I talk about adding new features to your monsters when they drop hit points but you could really do it however you want but you should make sure the creature meets a condition for it to go off. When looking at monsters in Dungeons and Dragons and hiding them in each other try to keep it balanced. This will make making combat interesting and surprise your players. The villain actions is really big when I learned about, it really speeds up combat and will make your players think for sure. The only hard part is the dungeon master / game master has to do more work but you could limit it to help yourself. In dnd better combat will make some things more memorable but you know your players best so adjust as you need to.
