Sfumato in C Major by Crowned Heads | #leemack912 Cigar Review (S08 E85). 2022 will make the second year in a row that crowned heads will release a cigar exclusive to PCA Trade Show attendees. This years release is the Crowned Heads Sfumato in C Major. The inspiration behind it comes from a Renaissance art technique made popular by Leonardo da Vinci. Sfumato is a pictorial technique for softening the transition between colors, creating an image that has no lines or edges, producing a soft hazy effect. The word sfumato comes from the Italian language and is derived from fumo (“smoke”).

Sfumato is somewhat of a departure for us. I saw where we were heavier in the darker wrappers, the medium-to-full lane, and I just wanted something different; I wanted something that would be perfect with a morning cup of coffee or compliment an afternoon glass of chilled Rose. Essentially, the goal was to create a blend with no edges, just a flavor profile that was easily approachable, smooth, and with exquisite balance. I knew that this Connecticut hybrid wrapper would get us to where we wanted to go, so that is where the C (“Connecticut”) Major allusion is derived from.

Sfumato in C Major is a 6 3/4″ x 48 parejo. The blend uses an Ecuadorian (Connecticut hybrid) wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Peru. It is packaged in 20-count cabinet boxes and have and MSRP of $10.95 per cigar. Sfumato in C Major is rolled at Tabacalera Pichardo in Esteli, Nicaragua, where many other Crowned Heads cigars are made such as brands as Juarez, Mil Dias, and Serie E.
