Suicides On The Rise

New data from the CDC shows a four percent rise in suicides last year, the first increase in two years.

The largest jump was eight percent among males, ages 15 through 24.

Suicides were up by 35 percent from 1999 to 2018 but then went down five percent through 2020.

Some experts are surprised by the decrease in 2020 and increase in 2021 considering the pandemic but say COVID's effect on mental health is unpredictable.
