Katie Stuart Answers: What is a Woman?

Illinois State Representative Katie Stuart (D-Collinsville) was pressed for a definition of a woman by State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Effingham), saying:

"If we are going to pass legislation pertaining to women, we must be able to define it."

After a long pause, Stuart finally decided to answer by scolding Wilhour, saying that his line of questioning was "offensive." Undaunted, Wilhour pressed his colleague regarding this resolution asking for a definition.

Stuart finally answers by stating that "Title IX is protecting anybody who identifies as female."

And with that, Wilhour rests his case.

Without one vote from Republicans, the Illinois Democrats vote to pass HR 733 with 67 votes on April 4, 2022.
