Jamestown Starvation 1609

A rat infestation from the good barrels onboard the ship "Phoenix" was brought aground in the casks. Of 490 persons in 1609, only 48 lived. They all died from starvation. Capt. James Smith was badly burned from a fire in his powder bag while he slept onboard the pinnace ship. As there were no bandages or medicine, he returned to London in great pain. Deaths from Arsenic poisoning discovered by archaeologists APPARENTLY came from the ship.
