The Second Amendment: Quo Vadis?

Some people think that the events of the past six months have spelled the end of the gun control debate. Americans are arming themselves at record rates. The Left has undermined its own argument that you don't need guns because the police will protect you, by neutering, defunding, and disestablishing some of the nation's police forces and making defunding of the police part of their national political effort.
I disagree! Recent events have provided Progressives with a blueprint for a novel effort to undermine and to destroy the Second Amendment. If Biden wins in November 2020, they will employ new tactics-. They'll use mass shootings as an excuse to declare health emergencies, just as they did in response to the COVID-19 crisis. In that response we saw Progressive leaders at the State and local levels ignore rights outlined in the Constitution, while the Courts allowed these actions, for the most part, to go unchecked.

Why not do the same with gun violence? The CDC already views gun violence as a matter of public health, moreover one that disproportionately impacts minorities. We have learned that most States have articles in their State Constitutions that allow Governors to wield enormous powers under the guise of a declared, by the Governors themselves, public health emergency. Everything in is place. We've seen the drill in action. All that is necessary is political victory in November.
