Fe.Ro briar and olive wood pipes are produced at the Figli di Federico Rovera pipe factory in Varese, Italy, northwest of Milan. The company was established in 1949 by Federico Rovera with the help of his sons and is the second largest pipe manufacturer in Italy. The family-owned business produces pipe brands for well known names in the trade throughout Europe. However, pipes imported to the USA carry their own brand name, Fe.Ro, an acronym of the founder's name.

Central Italian briar is exclusively used in Figli di Federico Rovera's pipe production with the exception of the company's olive wood pipes of course. Burls are harvested from the Tuscany region and must be 50 or more years old to meet the company's standards. Only high grade "Extra" blocks are selected, which means that even their less expensive pipes carry the heritage of higher grade briars. The briar blocks are air-dried versus kiln- or oven-dried. Though this process is more time consuming, it is said to result in a sweeter and drier smoking pipe.

The Arancio Chiaro EX line is a part of Fe.Ro's Barasso Citadel Series, a collection of smoking pipes made from high quality briar sold at affordable prices. These chariots of fire are complemented with a silver-toned band or unadorned beyond the rich and warm light umber coloring and subtle sheen of the wax coat. Each pipe is stamped "Fe.Ro" and "Italy", fitted with an acrylic stem, and accommodates a 6mm filter. The images provided below indicate which shapes are banded and assist with shape and size reference.
