Subsonic 338 Fed Ballistics Gel Test

Tested both 300 gr Maker REX and 300 gr Sierra MatchKing bullets in homemade gel.

Maker Bullet had maximum diameter of .75 inches after expansion and passed all the way through the gel and was stopped in the first container of water.
Velocity is about perfect at 1081 fps. Muzzle energy will be about 780 ft-lb

Sierra bullet passed all the way through the gel and 2 of containers of water missing the third. it was not recovered and only left a bullet diameter hole in the gel, never having expanded. This is not to denigrate the SMK; it is not a hunting bullet and not intended to be used at these velocities. I just wanted to try it to see what happened.
