What can the F35 really do? Today we are going to look at the F35 specifications. It is designed by Lockheed Martin. Production have been occurring from 2006–present. The number built are 825+ as of August 2022. The crew is one pilot. It is powered by1 × Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 afterburning turbofan, 28,000 lbf (125 kN) thrust dry, 43,000 lbf (191 kN) with afterburner (or 2 × F100-PW-229, thrust: 17,800 lb dry (79 kN); 29,160 lb (129.7 kN) with afterburner each). The length of the F-35 Lightning 2 is 51.4 ft (15.7 m). Empty weight is 29,300 lb (13,290 kg). Max takeoff weight is 49,540 lb (22,471 kg). Maximum speed of the aircraft is Mach 1.6 at altitude 782 kn (900 mph; 1,448 km/h) / M1.2 at low altitude. The F-35 Lightning 2 range is 1,500 nmi (1,700 mi, 2,800 km). Its flight ceiling is 50,000 ft (15,000 m). The Thrust to weight ratio is 0.87 at gross weight (1.07 at loaded weight with 50% internal fuel). Weapons carried are Missiles: Air-to-air missiles: AIM-120 AMRAAM, AIM-9X Sidewinder, AIM-132 ASRAAM, and MBDA Meteor (Block 4, for F-35B) (not before 2027). Air-to-surface missiles: AGM-88G AARGM-ER (Block 4), AGM-158 JASSM, SPEAR 3 (Block 4, in development, integration contracted), and the Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM). Air-to-surface/Anti-ship missiles: Joint Strike Missile (JSM, integration in progress), AGM-158C LRASM (being integrated). Bombs: Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) series, Pave way series laser-guided bombs. Precision-guided glide bomb: AGM-154 JSOW, GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB), GBU-53/B StormBreaker (Small Diameter Bomb II), and the B61 mod 12 nuclear bombs.
