NHK reported last night, "Masks are not required outdoors," and that The Ministry of Health and Welfare has published so.

NHK has never reported "no need for masks" before; NHK has always made people wear masks when interviewing "people on the street" (who are usually crisis actors). If they were not wearing masks, NHK would ask them to wear the masks they had prepared for the interview.

Even if NHK reports "no need for masks" just once, the worship of masks by the Japanese people will not be broken. Especially in a crowded train 😉.
