Alice and Jack Chambers live in an idyllic 1950s-styled neighborhood of the company town of Victory, California, in an uncertain time period. Men go to work at Victory Headquarters in the desert every day, while their wives (including Bunny and Margaret) stay home to clean, relax, and prepare dinner for their husbands. The women are forbidden from asking questions about their husbands' jobs and are told not to go to the headquarters.
Margaret has become an outcast after taking her son out into the desert, which has resulted in his apparent death, although she claims Victory took him from her as punishment.
Alice notices Margaret's husband attempt to give her medication while attending a party hosted by Frank, Victory's enigmatic founder and chief.
She notices Frank spies on her and Jack uses a camera.
