Joy Reid says DeSantis warning to looters in Ian’s aftermath is like racist threat from ‘segregationist’
Taking to Twitter, MSNBC host Joy Reid bashed Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., for warning potential criminals against looting the evacuated homes of Hurricane Ian survivors in Florida, linking his statements to racist cops and politicians of the segregation era.
Hurricane Ian: This is climate change slapping us upside the head with a 2×4
Ian devastated Fort Myers, reducing hundreds of buildings to filthy, soggy splinters, yanking houses off foundations, throwing trees around like match sticks. One woman, sheltering on the top floor of a resort said, “We saw everything get swept away.”
I’m making six figures and I still can’t afford NYC: Apple suffers brain drain as young and educated flee
Last May, Charlotte, 31, and her husband packed up their one-bedroom apartment on Christopher Street after learning the rent would likely skyrocket from $5,000 per month to $7,000. The couple loved living in the West Village, but homeownership was out of reach, even with her job in finance and him being in tech.
They were both working from home, so they could live anywhere. It was time, they decided, to leave New York.
“We considered Bronxville, and surrounding neighborhoods [in Westchester], but for what we wanted we would have had to spend well over $1.8 [million],” Charlotte, who makes more than $200,000 annually and declined to give her last name, told The Post.

Young people earning $100,000 or more are fleeing California and New York—here’s where they’re going
New York and California have long been attractive places for young workers striking out on their own. But that may be changing.
A survey conducted by SmartAsset tracked the movement of so-called “rich young professionals,” which it described as anyone under 35 earning an adjusted gross income of at least $100,000.
SmartAsset determined the inflow and outflow of rich young professionals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia by using Internal Revenue Service data to compare tax returns from 2019 and 2020.

In reversal of policy, adviser says Danielle Smith's sovereignty act would respect Supreme Court decisions
The top adviser to incoming Alberta premier Danielle Smith says her proposed sovereignty act would respect Supreme Court of Canada decisions — a reversal of her core policy promise on how she would challenge Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government.
Rob Anderson, Smith's campaign chair for the United Conservative Party leadership and now executive director of her transition team, told CBC in a story published Saturday that Smith's proposed sovereignty act won't empower Alberta to disregard Supreme Court rulings.
