Fruit Inspectors

Works salvationists use the verse in Matthew 7:16: "Ye shall know them by their fruits ..." to teach that Christians must have works if they are truly saved. What they blatantly ignore is that Jesus is not even remotely talking about salvation "fruit inspectors" in this passage, but is rather instructing us on how to judge the authenticity of prophets. The passage, in context, begins in verse 15-16: "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits ..." This passage is really about judging the fruit of false prophets, not believers for salvation.
