From 2011 to 2014, Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter Hunter manga served as the basis for the anime television series Hunter Hunter. The story opens with a little kid named Gon Freecss discovering one day that his father, whom he had believed to be dead, is actually still alive and well. He discovers that his father, Ging, is a mythical "Hunter," a person who has distinguished themselves as a superior being. Gon grows motivated to follow in his father's footsteps, pass the difficult "Hunter Examination," and finally find his father to become a Hunter in his own right despite the fact that Ging left his son with his relatives in order to pursue his own goals.
