PS5 PRO: Rumor or Next Gen-Cover Up?

Less than 2 years into the lifespan of the PS5 there are already rumors of a PS5 Pro on the horizon with release in late 2023/ early 2024 year, but why so soon? Is this just a rumor or is this a rush to cover a deeper issue?
