19 מדינות בארה"ב פתחו בחקירה נגד 6 הבנקים הגדולים ביותר. המדינות טוענות כי מדיניות הבנקים להעדיף "השקעות אחראיות" בתחומי סביבה, חברה וניהול (ESG) פגעה בתעשיית האנרגיה האמריקנית.
החקירה תתמקד בהצטרפות הבנקים להסכם בין-לאומי של בנקים מרכזיים הנמצא בפיקוח האו"ם. התובע הכללי של מדינת מיזורי, אריק שמידט, אומר שמטרת ההסכם היא לסרב לתת הלוואות לחברות העוסקות בפעילויות הקשורות לדלק מאובנים.
