In this video, I discuss the current strains on the Texas electrical grid and how Bitcoin miners are doing their best to bring flexibility to electricity demand.

When you set up an electrical grid and power generation, you need to optimize for up-time, redundancy, and reliability. This often leads to waste, since you are forced to produce more electricity than you usually need, in order to ensure that peak demand is covered.

Bitcoin miners can step in and provide flexibility. Bitcoin miners can provide a price floor at times of low demand, but are still able to turn off their machines whenever demand becomes too high and it is necessary to avoid blackouts or brownouts.

There's no other business or industry that can do this-- certainly not data centers or hospitals.

Bitcoin mining is going to be an essential player in the energy and electricity industries in the coming years.
