30-YR Army Vet & Sport Shooter Lt. Col. John Schneiderbanger Tells Committee Bill C-21 is Misguided

Lt. Col. Schneiderbanger, a retired officer and former Base Commander (Shiloh) who served 30-years in the Canadian Armed Forces, presented his case against Bill C-21 yesterday during committee.

He told committee he as a firearms owner for 40 years, and a competitive sports shooter for 30 years, including IPSC 3-Gun competitions. "I'm an IPSC Canada National instructor and a Chief Range Officer with the National Range Officer Institute (NROI). I've competed in 2 World Championships and 1 European Championship."

"Many families will lose thousands, to tens of thousands, of dollars when these handguns are confiscated. This is unacceptable. Many families will pay the price for crimes committed by others. The focus on legal handgun ownership as a way to reduce violent crimes with guns, is misguided. Legally owned guns firearms are not the cause of the increase in violent crime. Gangs, drug dealers, and smugglers use illegal guns and are the problem.
