He currently resides in Chula Vista with his wife and family. He was raised in National City where he attended Sweetwater High School and is an alumnus of Southwestern College and San Diego State University.

Robert's campaign platform for the Southwestern College Governing board includes improving the transfer rate to 4-year universities, making community college more affordable, and supporting students, teachers, and staff.
