A number of people emailed me about this video with their own theories of why the missile did such a drastic U-Turn.

I believe it was due to the missile being mishandled during storage or manufacture. I believe a section of fuel dislodged from the elastisizer and caused an area of high impulse which turned the missile around. By the time the extra nugget of fuel was burned up, the missile was flying straight again.

It is very important to store missiles according to regulations and periodically X-Ray them for non-destructive inspection to determine if their fuel has degraded.
