LIVE COVERAGE: Thousands join rally in Paris as workers strike for higher wages

Thousands are gathering on the streets of Paris on Thursday, October 27, to support a one-day workers’ strike.

The industrial action, organised by the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), is taking place nationwide.

Demonstrators are demanding pay increases to help workers cope with the rising cost of living. Many are angry about the government’s recent use of 'requisition' powers, to compel those striking at oil refineries to return to work.
