On October 26, 2001, President George W. Bush signed into law the USA Patriot Act. It was in the aftermath of the attacks on 9/11, and Americans were desperate for a sense of security. But now, 21 years later, we can see the Patriot Act for what it truly is: an overreach in power by our government and a threat to the civil liberties of all Americans.
