FFW 16.1: Valve has released the Steam Deck UI in Beta
If you go for the Steam Client Beta on your computer, you can access the same UI, with some bugs, as you have on the Steam Deck. Pretty cool stuff. This will replace the Big Picture Mode, eventually so that your experience will be as smooth as possible moving from Deck to PC and back again. It is still in beta, so expect some flaws, but if you are a tinkerer, you can enable it by following the directions in the article.

The long and the short:
2 models:
a higher powered gaming version with up to 64GB of DDR5-4800MT ram, a 95-watt RTX3070Ti in it, a 240Hz screen, up to an i7-12700H processor, an 80 Wh battery and a promised 12 hours of battery life. Weighing in at a hefty starting price of $2070 US for a base config, with 16GB DDR5 RAM, a 3060Ti, and only 500 GB SSD.
And
The workstation edition, which has a 90Hz display, an optional RTX 3050Ti, up to 64 GB of DDR4 3200MT ram and the same battery, keyboard, and processor in it. This one is a bit cheaper, starting at just about $1500 US.
These sound like pretty epic machines, though I wish they were AMD powered, vs Intel.

FFW 16.3: VKD3D-Proton 2.7 Released
Gamers out there will appreciate this greatly. What is it? Why, the translation layer that converts Direct3D API calls to Vulkan API calls so that your Linux computer can game as well as if not sometimes better than a Windows machine. There are some games that have anti-cheat and similar issues which prevent them from being played in Linux, but other than titles like those, this is more or less true.
