The 2021 Annual Report is an important part of the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability. This annual report tells the story of the great work being done by the brave officers of CPD. Through sharing pertinent departmental data alongside project and milestone updates, we continue every effort to serve and protect the people of Chicago, while realizing the goals set forth in the consent decree.

Since the murder of Emmitt Till by the hands of white and Black men, in Mississippi, crime in the city of Chicago, where Emmitt lived, has risen dramatically. Black people are fairing far worse now than when Emmitt Till was alive. The murders across the US have increased among Blacks at the hands of their fellow Black brethren. Moreover, there is a Black mayor, police captain, and other city officials, who has the same skin tone as many of the people murdered, but they make a mocking out of the death of Emmitt Till.
