THE FORGOTTEN FORT MANTEUFFEL - ONE OFF PATTONS LIST.

The Great historic city of Metz is circled by forts, some constructed back before the Francho Prussian war even started. And many survived 3 wars, I am taking you to one that almost did not, Feste Manteuffel, standing on the way of Pattons advance. Held by a handful of battle hardened Grenadiers. So what is the story of the fort and Pattons battle here, and how did an old fort from 1860 hold up to modern arms?

Truly it is one of the most beautiful places I have taken you through, now quietly being taken over by nature. But we will still try to discern what happened here, built by 3 different armies unknown modifications and where all the secret underground tunnels actually lead. And we will be back here without a lunch box:-) You will see why.
