Jeremiah 29:11

How could God make such a statement and promise to his people when they had just suffered an historic defeat? These people had seen their nation defeated, their families and friends killed, their houses burned to the ground, and the Temple of their God reduced to ruble... Now, they had been marched across 500 miles of desert for a lifetime serving a foreign king in a strange land... As all this is sinking in, here comes a letter from the crazy prophet who had warned you, over and over, that it was about to happen... In that letter, he quotes God as saying that He has plans for you... plans for good and not for evil! Like really... Are you for real???
