"Deteriores omnes sumus licentia." = "We are all the worse for the license", or perhaps a bit more idiomatically: "Too much liberty corrupts us all."

Meretricious = apparently attractive but having in reality no value or integrity.

Anapest = a metrical foot consisting of two short or unstressed syllables followed by one long or stressed syllable.
