If you stayed and went through the day-to-day trials of parenthood, you are officially the men of the year.

Fathers have not been given the respect they deserve, they have not been given the value they deserve by our society. In fact, they have been downplayed and marginalized.

But if you look around at today's current events, it could be argued that many of the people behaving the way they are is due to having no father in the home. I would argue that.

Several generations now of fatherless homes, generations with no guidance, no leadership, what did we think would happen?

So it's time that we gave fathers the respect and acknowledgment that they deserve. It's time we taught the value of the father in the home.

We need to place a higher value on the family and the father.

Moms get all the credit and attention, and rightfully so, they stay when many fathers leave. So mothers get the praise of course. This is not to take anything away from them. You will always have our love and respect.

However, we need to promote and teach the importance of fathers and we need to teach our younger generation that it's normal for fathers to be in the house, it's normal and respected to be a father who raises his children.

Fathers who stay and do their duty should be praised and recognized.

This tribute is to all you dads and husbands who do the day-to-day work, who stay, who help, who teach.
