A ride into the haunted Maine countryside.

Mrs. Todd's Shortcut is a story in the anthology Skeleton Crew.

The narrator Homer Buckland tells the story of Ophelia Todd, known for her obsession with shortcuts, and for disappearing inexplicably. One day she convinces him to accompany her, and he travels through what appears to be an alternate reality. He is perplexed that she appears to grow younger, and also finding a rodent-like creature on the grille of her auto. She disappears soon after.

The story mentions Joe Camber getting killed by his own dog Cujo. The creature Buckland found on Mrs. Todd's grille appears to be a billy-bumbler, found in the later Dark Tower series.
